Sarah Jane Bellwood

Trained at Lancaster University

With influences as broad as Beatrix Potter and the 16th Century still life painter, Juan Sanchez Cotan, Sarah’s work is often influenced by the natural world. An interest in etymological collections runs alongside that of seemingly domestic objects, but there is hidden meaning in all Sarah’s work. Subjects such as the male role during the collapse of the North East’s steal industry and the role of women through insect social structures and domestic implements are explored in her carefully placed objects.
