Josie Jenkins. winner of the 2013 Valeria Sykes Prize, has just completed a week long residency at Allenheads Contemporary Art in Northumberland. For five days, she was given the time and space to concentrate on drawing, studying and interpreting the landscape. Established in 1994 by Alan Smith and Helen Ratcliffe, Allenheads Contemporary Art (ACA) aims to provide opportunities for the development of new ideas and work. Based in an old Victorian schoolhouse situated on a steep hill and overlooking the village of Allenheads, ACA develops, commissions and presents innovative projects, disseminating the results to a wide audience through web and broadcast projects, publications, symposia and exhibitions.
