It was a hectic few days for us in London recently as we launched our first New Light exhibition in the south. Entitled ‘Shining a Light on Northern Artists’, it was held in the Threadneedle Space at the Mall Galleries in September. With over 2500 visitors during the six days and strong sales, our inaugural foray into the capital was certainly well worth the effort.

The exhibition gave us a chance to showcase the quality of the work being produced in the North today with works on display from both established Northern artists and new talent. Norman Ackroyd CBE RA, Mark Demsteader, Emerson Mayes, James Naughton, Anja Percival and Simon Wright were joined by Diana Armstrong, Chloe Holt, Josie Jenkins, Myles Linley, Emma Lloyd and Genevieve Pennington, many of whom were recipients of New Light prizes in 2011. It was also an opportunity to promote New Light to a southern audience and begin to promote the 2015 Biennial Exhibition and Prize.

Thank you to all those who helped make the exhibition such a success including all the artists, our patron Valeria Sykes and our exhibition sponsors: Lupton Fawcett Denison Till, Ryden and UBS.
