Born in Knaresborough, David studied painting and printmaking at Harrogate School of Art, before continuing his studies in painting and sculpture at the Slade School of Art London 1959- 1961.
His work follows in the tradition of English landscape painting and printmaking and is firmly rooted in observation. The North Yorkshire landscape and coast provide much of the subject matter where he favours less well known places like Port Mulgrave and Skinningrove.
Over the last ten years David has exhibited widely in public and private galleries in the UK. In 2012 his work was purchased by the House of Lords for inclusion in their Works of Art Collection.
