If you haven’t yet had the chance to see New Light’s Prize Exhibition you have another opportunity. The Exhibition moves to The Mercer Gallery in Harrogate from 20 February until 12 June 2016.
The Exhibition shows exciting works from 61 talented artists and includes Mandy Payne’s prize-winning work, Broken Brutalism, which won the £10,000 Valeria Sykes Award.
The New Light Prize Exhibition is showing alongside a solo show by much-loved Yorkshire artist Tom Wood, who is also one of the short-listed artists in the New Light Exhibition.
Tom comments on his involvement with New Light: “The New Light Prize Exhibition is a rare and wonderful opportunity to see a broad selection of the excellent and sometimes unexpected art being made in the North of England. Having lived and worked in Yorkshire most of my life it’s a real pleasure to see the arts flourishing and I’m extremely pleased to have been given the opportunity to exhibit alongside artists I have known and respected for many years.”
Short-listed artists represent the counties of County Durham, Cumbria, Lancashire, Teeside, Tyne & Wear and Yorkshire and their work includes paintings, prints, sculpture and mixed media.
Visitors to The Mercer can see all of the prize-winning works and also vote for their own favourite piece in the Visitors’ Choice Award.
