Matt Wade was born in North Manchester in 1973. Despite a brief stint at art college he remains largely self-taught.
Though mainly gurative his work often explores esoteric themes and he nds it important that it conveys some kind of (often oblique) narrative. He says of it:
“Although my work tends to err on the realistic side, it is important to me the craft remains apparent. Art to me is a way of getting to the heart of a subject, as a culture we are bombarded with thousands of images daily, and where a photograph might be assimilated within seconds there is something about a good work of art that causes pause and re ection in the viewer, this is where can we nd and convey our truths.”
He lives and works in North Yorkshire and has exhibited in group exhibitions across the North of England.
