James Naughton was born in Bolton in 1971. An early devotion to drawing resulted in him being trained on an Art Foundation in Bolton with master Printmaker Bill Dyson. A degree in Graphic arts followed at Leeds Metropolitan University with inspirational tutors Phil Redford and Course leader Jack Chesterman. After the course James slowly developed his interest in print making into a distinct approach to oil painting and Landscape. Painting professionally for over 20 years He has exhibited his work widely in the UK and internationally. Although he is very well established with his Landscapes of vast expanses from an imagined Ariel perspective, James describes the cave works, like the one featured in this exhibition as an inverted Landscape with all the echoes and reflections of light that enable the experience of a transformative space.
