Sunnybank Mills is only 4 miles away from Bradford City which is celebrating its City of Culture 2025 status and is, of course, playing host to the Turner Prize. We’re aiming to extend the focus on the North’s artistic talent with this New Light Summer exhibition.
We aim to bring a focus to emerging artists from across the North and help to introduce them to a new audience. The open call attracted over a thousand entries for our first Summer Exhibition.
A panel of 8 judges were asked to curate their own distinctive selection of artworks and also select an overall winner to receive a bursary of £500 artist. The winners were announced on 8th July. A 9th bursary was also awarded for a textile piece, as selected by William Gaunt, director of Sunny Bank Mills.
