Balancing Act Blue

Description

Soft pastel & pastel pencil on board
69cm x 85m

I first discovered my love of pastels & charcoal when pavement drawing while studying for a degree in Industrial Design in Sheffield, where I still live. After graduating I began a career in art & illustration, creating & having published a great number of greetings cards & prints for companies such as Hallmark Cards & De Montfort Fine Art.

Though my primary aim is to achieve a sense of realism, I enjoy the fact that, on closer inspection, small details & techniques become apparent. My subjects are often chosen for their visual impact & detail, such as “Cheese On Toast” with the texture of the toast complimented by the glossiness of the melting cheese. One of my favourite subjects is vintage toy vehicles with their peeling paint & scuff marks from years of being lovingly played with.

I am represented by a number of galleries & am a member of the Pastel Society with whom I regularly exhibit.
