Jonathan Ashworth grew up in Leeds and is a graduate of Edinburgh College of Art and the Royal College of Art in London. He lives and works in Hackney.
All of Jonathan’s images are printed from wooden plates or blocks made from Japanese plywood or Castelo box. These two woods are very different to work with and so the size and intricacy of the design dictates the choice of material. The smallest images are all engravings, yet a small wood engraving often takes as long to make as a large woodcut.
