This Friday, at the launch of the New Light Prize Exhibition 2023-24, hosted by the Williamson Art Gallery & Museum, we finally get to find out the winners of this year’s Prize Exhibition!

We’ve had an exciting few months watching entries pile up on New Light’s digital doormat. We’ve been amazed and delighted to see so many new artists enter from all over the North of England plus those few Northern souls who have settled in more global locations. And we’ve also seen many familiar names, whose journey we’ve had the pleasure to follow through the years.

Afer the 2020-21 Prize Exhibition which was challenging to all of us due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year, it has felt relatively normal – except for the unescapable cost-of-living crisis which we know has affected many practising artists and creatives. We hope things do not remain this way for long.

And we hope that this New Light Prize Exhibition raises smiles, spirits (and possibly the odd cabbage)….
