Wilf Tilley

Manami-san (2023)

Description

Ink, oil & ground colour suspended in Venetian turpentine
with encaustic glazing & tableaux varnish:
washi over gesso on canvas mounted on wood panel
41cm x 31.8cm

Wilf Tilley (Dr. Michael W. Miller) was educated in local schools and began his career as an actor, age 16, with the National Youth Theatre. “Wilf Tilley” was part-adopted for a first, solo exhibition at the AIR Gallery,

The sitter for this portrait was in the third trimester of pregnancy and gave birth to a boy shortly after the sitting. However, she is the sister of Satomi who was the model for a small portrait painting I exhibited in the last New Light Exhibition.
