I graduated from Wirral Metropolitan College in 2002 with a First Class BA Honours Degree in Fine Art while also working to support my two children as a lone parent. Whilst studying I was joint prize winner in the Wirral Spring and Photography Exhibition (2000). In 2003 I was runner up in the Daily Mail Weekend competition ‘Not the Turner Prize’. In 2007, I was second prize winner in the Chester Grosvenor Museum Biennial Open Exhibition. I was also invited to exhibit in the Chester Grosvenor Museum Exhibition Face Value ‘Portraits in Public and Private’ in 2010. Winner Kriterion Prize, Williamson Spring Open 2015. I was a Prize-winner at The Wirral Society of Arts Annual Exhibition in 2022.
I have paintings in both public and private collections.
As an artist I am instinctively drawn to the living form and to light. I approach my work intuitively finding that composition, colour, pose and facial expression suggest some psychological insight. I like to explore the interplay of light and dark in my work and I use this to create a sense of drama and dynamism.. As the process develops the picture evolves often in unexpected ways.
