Clare studied Fine Art Printmaking at Hull University. She creates etchings and charcoal drawings layered with colour.
There is a strong narrative element to her work, the gritstone landscape and Industrial heritage of the North providing much of her inspiration. Working from observation, she seeks to interpret the world beyond the camera lens, with drawing at the heart of her practice.
Clare is a member of The Hot Bed Press in Salford, has exhibited widely, and has work in collections across the globe.
Joke Shop Window is a reminder of childhood fun, and the universal power of laughter in a world of increasing angst. To laugh at something is to revoke its capacity to harm. In the words of Robert Louis Stevenson, there is ‘nothing like a little judicious levity.’
