Iron wire mounted on a painted wood and MDF board

‘As soon as I saw it I just loved it! It literally leaps off the wall at you. The use of the wire creates a fabulous texture and form and aligns so wonderfully with the idea and the design. The use of depth between the tree and the fence and flowers works wonderfully. Sculpture os so often about shadow and this piece plays with that in a lovely way. I feel I just want to keep walking around it to see the different angles and how the shadows play and combine with the form.’

‘Having not entered an open exhibition for many years, I was delighted when my wire tree piece, ‘Solitary Summer’ was selected to be in the New Light Summer Exhibition! And then winning a bursary, well that was the icing on the cake! This has reaffirmed that my work is going in the right direction and has given me the confidence to seek more exhibition opportunities’

Working from her studio at The West Yorkshire Print Workshop in Mirfield, she creates intricate and elegant wirework wall pieces that cross the boundaries between drawing and sculpture. Initially inspired by the rituals and etiquette of tea drinking of days gone by, early work focused on chintzy china cups and Victorian architecture. A variety of commissions have led to new explorations of rural landscapes and British flora, developing, and pushing new wire-working skills.
