A figurative portrait artist, Lizzie is committed to capturing the character and personality of the sitter with as much attention as the likeness. It’s clear that detail is key and the harmony between allegory and abstraction is a developing theme. Lizzie studied Animation at Farnham then spent five years dedicated to life drawing at the Académie La Grande Chaumière, Paris. Her passion for portraiture extends through delicate pencil studies to larger than life mixed media paintings with a unique exploration through colour and tone.
She has exhibited with the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, Society of Graphic Fine Art and the Derwent Art Prize and was recently selected as an Associate member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art.
‘I worked in advertising, in London, for brand such as L’Oreal, Barclays, Asda and John Lewis before moving to Paris to bring up my children and whilst drawing on and off have only concentrated on art since 2020. I did a portrait of my breast cancer surgeon as part of the Tom Croft’s Portraits for NHS Heroes. My portrait was featured in the book and on the billboard in Piccadilly. This gave me to confidence to pursue my love of portraiture and helped me greatly with my recovery.’
